Automotive Manufacturing Assistance Program (AMAP)

Michigan-based automotive manufacturers can now receive up to $25,000 in matching funds through a State funded program designed to help Michigan manufacturers more effectively compete in the global marketplace.

The Automotive Manufacturers Assistance Program (AMAP) provides up to $25,000 in program funding for automotive suppliers or supplier divisions with a Michigan- based manufacturing presence.  The program funding is designed to be a (50/50) cost share and can be used to offset a portion of the cost for a wide variety of improvement projects including Marketing, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Financial and General Management. Automotive Manufacturers Assistance Program (AMAP) Approval Process

  • Application cost: $1,500-$3,000 (Includes processing and action plan development cost)
  • Overall Project Timeline and application process[1]
    • Phase 0: (1 week) - Execute Non-Disclosure Agreement to ensure confidentiality of financial and other sensitive information
    • Phase 1: (1 week) - At no cost to the firm, the AMAP Program Manager(s) will compile and assess their data for the past two fiscal years.
    • Phase 2: (2-6 weeks) - AMAP Project Managers and the company applying for AMAP funding work together to develop a realistic strategy and actionable plan for improvement/adjustment[2]
    • Phase 3: (1 year) - AMAP assists the company in the selection of outside professional(s) to implement the jointly developed plan as well as monitor implementation progress[3]

[3] AMAP pays up to 50% of the fee per project up to a maximum of $25,000.
